SUPER League champions York Valkyrie will have more NRL experience in their ranks in 2027 after the signing of Chelsea Savill.
Former NRLW players Megan Pakulis and Monique Donovan were both instrumental in last season’s success and will now be joined in the amber and black by hooker Savill, who makes the move from St George Illawarra Dragons where she was on a development deal in 2026.
The 21 year-old was previously with Wests Tigers, where she made nine NRLW appearances, and has also represented New South Wales in Under 19s State of Origin.
“I’m really looking forward to coming over and working hard with the team,” said Savill.
“You can see how hard the girls work for each other, and that’s something I’m keen to be part of.
“It’s a big step outside my comfort zone, but I’m ready for the challenge and to give everything I can to the team in 2027.”
Savill is coach Leon Pryce’s first signing ahead of the club’s defence of their title, and it’s one he believes shows their intent.
“Signing Chelsea shows our ambition as a club and the standards we’re setting,” added Pryce.
“She brings valuable NRLW experience and quality to our group, and I’m excited to work with her and help her reach her full potential.”
Savill will fill the gap left at hooker by Izzy Bibby, who is one of seven players confirmed to have left the club following their Grand Final victory in September.
Bibby joined the Valkyie in 2025 and has since shared the hooking role with Sinead Peach, but will now move on alongside Sade Rihari, Rhiannion Marshall, Tara Moxon, Chavelle Clarke, Charlotte McDaid and Carrie Roberts.
