Action in Caerphilly

It’s a #BigDayOut in Caerphilly on Sunday (21 August) with three great games, featuring first team, development and the Welsh Grand Final, writes Ian Golden.

The rare triple-header is, in addition, available at rock-bottom admission prices.

The bonanza, at Caerphilly RFC, starts at noon when a South Wales Scorpions Development side take on an Ireland Select outfit made up of players from Irish League clubs.

The South Wales Development team has previously faced sides from Super League, Championship, League 1, Armed Forces and amateur ranks this year.

Kingstone Press League 1 action follows at 3.00pm when South Wales Scorpions entertain Oxford; the Scorpions are seeking the `double’ after having prevailed at Iffley Road earlier in the campaign.

And, at 4.45pm, Aber Valley Wolves meet Bridgend Blue Bulls in the Welsh Conference Grand Final; the Bulls have beaten the Wolves in the last two deciders, but Aber Valley will be determined to exact retribution after closing the 2016 season as table-toppers.

Tickets for the #BigDayOut are available at just £8 (£5 concessions and £1 juniors) from www.scorpionsrl.com
