WIGAN WARRIORS have been hit with an injury ‘leak’ ahead of their clash against Leigh Leopards this weekend.
During his press conference, Leigh boss Adrian Lam began speaking about the danger of Bevan French before adding in that he believes Liam Marshall is an injury doubt.
Marshall has endured an injury-hit campaign in 2026, but returned to the Wigan line-up last week for the win over St Helens.
However, Lam believes that the veteran winger may not play in the ‘Battle of the Borough’.
“He’s (French) going to be a handful here tomorrow night,” Lam said.
“He’s playing with his tail up. He’s very confident at the moment.
“They’ll be buzzing with him coming back, and a few other players, Marshall coming back – whether he plays or not tomorrow night – I’m hearing there’s a chance that he doesn’t.
“But there’s a couple of them still coming back into the picture there.”
As for the ‘Battle of the Borough’, Lam enthused: “I think it has been great.
“I remember the first couple of years we hadn’t beaten Wigan, and then last year we’d beaten them twice out of the three times. Fortunately, this year we haven’t played them three times.”
Lam spent a number of illustrious years with the Warriors as both a player and a coach, leading them for three seasons as head coach before joining Leigh ahead of the 2022 campaign.
Asked if he had insiders still at Wigan, Lam smiled: “Yeah, mate.
“I’ve still got some contacts there. Don’t you worry about that.”
Meanwhile, experienced winger Josh Charnley is a doubt.
“He just twisted his ankle on the weekend and he’s been in a boot up until today,” Lam continued.
“He’s obviously scored the most tries in Super League and we’d rather him be out there, but he’s probably a big chance of not playing.
“We’re going to give him up until kick-off, and then we’ll make a decision.”
