Airlie Birds run riot over Rovers

Jack Logan scored a hat-trick as Hull FC earned a comfortable victory in the Hull derby with a 56-12 win over Hull KR.

After Hull KR were denied a try for Tommy Lee due to a double movement, Jake Connor opened the scoring for the Black and Whites when he cut through the defence with a well-timed dummy. Jimmy Kenihorst replied for the away side but two tries for Jack Logan gave Hull a commanding lead.

Just before the break, an outside-inside play from the Rovers allowed Craig Hall to halve the deficit.

Mark Minichiello’s try only two minutes into the second half, Sneyd’s penalty plus Joe Westerman’s effort with 18 minutes to go saw Hull stretch 20 points in front.

Albert Kelly added some gloss to the scoreline when he pounced on a ball which was stripped from Josh Griffin’s grasp by Kane Linnett. Then Mickey Paea stormed over the line as the Airlie Birds ran riot.

Logan scored his hat-trick try before Connor Wynne returned to the field to support Kelly’s break.
