AJ Brimson suffers serious injury in England defeat

AJ BRIMSON suffered a dislocated shoulder in England’s final Ashes defeat to Australia in Leeds.

The Gold Coast Titans fullback was playing against the nation of his birth after switching allegiance ahead of the series.

Left out of the side for the Wembley opener, Brimson made his England debut in the second Test at Hill Dickinson Stadium and retained the number-one jersey for the closing game.

But he only lasted ten minutes before coming off through injury, replaced by Mikey Lewis.

“He’s really damaged his AC (joint) so bad,” confirmed England coach Shaun Wane.

“They are really painful and he was so gutted to come off.

“He’s a brave kid and he’s loved his time here, He’s been a great addition to our squad – he’s really impressed.”

Brimson’s exit was hugely disruptive for England, with Lewis deployed in a position he rarely plays for the remainder of the 30-8 loss.

Wane added: That hurt us a lot, the way we do everything, but I thought we adapted well.

“That’s why we had Mikey on the bench, although I didn’t expect to use him the way we did.”
