ALEX GERRARD is keen to continue in Super League following his exit from the Salford Red Devils.
The Lancashire club announced the departure of 32-year-old last weekend in a surprising move after revealing just a 24-man squad for the 2024 Super League season.
Gerrard, who has been with the Red Devils since January 2022 and has gone on to make 31 appearances for the club, is keen to stay in the top flight.
“I’m pretty open to be honest,” Gerrard told League Express.
“I’m still training on my own and doing my own bits. I’m open to new opportunities but it has to be the right opportunity.
“I’m quite relaxed about it. I’ve spoken to one or two clubs but none in Super League yet. I want to stay in Super League, that’s what interests me.
“I’ve had a couple of clubs come up to me in the past but it’s all been dependant on players moving on due to the salary cap restraints – and this looks similar.”
If no Super League club does come in for Gerrard, he is more than willing to retire from the sport and continue to expand his own business on the side.
“I’ve got my own car company. We sell premium cars – everything from Mercedes A classes to Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
“So I could definitely do that full-time. The company is busy and it is growing. We now have a couple of members of staff so the option is there.”
Gerrard didn’t touch on his exit from Salford, simply replying “no comment” on questions to do with his departure from the Super League club.
