Hunslet could be hit with a second lengthy ban in the forwards, with Zach Braham handed a Grade D charge for dangerous contact in the Challenge Cup tie against Coventry
He will be in front of the disciplinary committee on Tuesday, a week after Zach Johnson was handed a six-match ban for a dangerous throw in the final pre-season match against Leeds Rhinos.
“It’s not looking great for Zach Braham,” said Head Coach Gary Thornton (pictured).
“We’ll be hoping the ban is at the lower end of what he can expect because he has been pretty key to what we have been doing.
“It will be a big loss for us, but with Alex Rowe coming in recently it gives him an opportunity to get some game time, and there is also Jack Wray and Harvey Hallas waiting for a chance as well, so we do have cover for numbers in that area.
“Zach (Johnson) knows he got it totally wrong and we just need to accept the decision. It’s disappointing for him because he’s just come into our ranks from the amateur ranks, but we have to get on with it now.
“He was really keen to make an impression and he was maybe a little over exuberant in his approach. Thankfully the Leeds player wasn’t injured and Zach has been remorseful of his action so he just needs to take it on the chin.”
It was also confirmed last week that Hunslet will not take part in this year’s 1895 Cup.
“When it was first brought up for this year we were working with a small squad and we wanted to focus on the League campaign and getting out of League 1,” added Thornton.
