BARROW RAIDERS coach Amanda Wilkinson says the club will begin to make squad announcements next month.
This is because she and the Raiders have taken a different approach to previous years, allowing potential squad members to earn their spot during the early weeks of pre-season.
Wilkinson told League Express: “Normally shirt numbers and places in the squad are based on what they did the season before – that’s just something I’ve always done – but because we had such a bad year for injuries, and we had a lot of players playing out of position, those spots are going to be earned by what they show in our pre-Christmas training block.
“We have brought quite a few of our Under 19 players in to join training as well, which is great, and it gives them a chance earn a spot too, so it’s about having a look at everyone a little bit differently.
“We have had a little bit of movement, there’s a couple of people who have stepped away because of family and the work commitments, which happens, but we’ll start releasing names in the New Year.”
