BEN JONES-BISHOP will go round again in 2027 after agreeing a new one-year deal with York Knights.
The new deal will see the 38-year-old Jamaica international, who passed 400 career appearances last season, enter his 19th year as a professional player.
Despite missing a large part of the season with a foot injury, the veteran winger still managed six tries in 11 appearances, including in his milestone appearance against Bradford Bulls in the final game of the regular season.
The former Leeds, Salford, Wakefield and Sheffield Eagles flyer, who will now enter his third season with York, has no desire to hang up his boots just yet.
“I’m excited to be a part of what the club is building,” said Jones-Bishop, who tasted both Grand Final and World Club challenge success with Leeds.
“My desire and hunger to perform at this level are as strong as ever.”
Jones-Bishop was both the Knights’ and Championship top-scorer in 2025, with head coach Mark Applegarth not shy in expressing his admiration for the ‘Rolls Royce’ player who is one of the most experienced in his squad.
“He had a bit of an injury last year which meant he was out for a prolonged period,” explained Applegarth, who led York to a tenth placed finish in their debut Super League season.
“But that’s probably been a blessing in disguise for him, allowing him to move forward.
“Where do you start with Bish? You know exactly what you’re getting with him.
“He’s very competitive, demands a very high standard of himself, and he’s ultra professional.
“I enjoy chatting to Bish about rugby as well as coaching him, and it’ll be a pleasure to watch him go round again.
“I think he’ll still be very effective, and I’m delighted he’s decided to go round for another year at least.”
