Ben Tibbs among players staying as Halifax Panthers eye stability

HALIFAX PANTHERS winger Ben Tibbs is ready to add to a century of appearances for the club after agreeing to go into a seventh season at The Shay.

Having moved from neighbours Huddersfield, where he came through the Academy, the Wakefield-born player, now 25, made a try-scoring Panthers debut in the 14-12 home Championship win over Newcastle in August 2021.

He notched Halifax appearance number 100 in the penultimate game of the campaign just finished, the 58-12 loss at London, then scored his 17th try of the term (the highest tally of any Panthers player), in the 19-18 home defeat by Keighley.

Coach Kyle Eastmond is hoping for far more squad stability after the financial challenges of 2026 led to a string of departures, with forward Delaine Gittens-Bedward also re-signing.

And Tibbs said: “I’ve had some great times here. I’m already really excited about what’s ahead with the core squad we’ve kept together, some new signings and Kyle and the coaching team leading us. I think we are in for a much better season.

“I’d like to personally say a massively thank you to the fans for sticking with us through a tough year and hopefully we can repay that support.”

Halifax have completed a permanent deal for St Helens loanee prop Leon Cowen.
