Betfred Challenge Cup Round 3 Squad Lists

Here are the squads for the first six matches of this weekend’s Betfred Challenge Cup games.

The weekend begins with Hull KR hosting Castleford Tigers tonight in the first of four all-Super League ties.

The Robins have suffered injury blows to Korbin Sims (concussion), Elliot Minchella (ACL) and Matty Storton (head), with all three players left out, to be replaced by Will Dagger (above) and Jimmy Keinhorst, with coach Tony Smith only having named 20 players.

The Tigers welcome back halfback Gareth O’Brien into their squad, with Lewis Peachey making way.

York City Knights will be missing Danny Kirmond, Chris Clarkson, Jack Teanby and Jordan Baldwinson, as well as stand-off Riley Dean, who is recalled by his parent club Warrington Wolves.

York coach James Ford brings back Marcus Stock and Perry Whiteley, while also adding three youngsters in A J Towse, Myles Harrison and Toby Warren.

The Wigan 21-man squad is unchanged from the squad that coach Adrian Lam selected for their Super League Round 2 encounter against Wakefield Trinity.

The first game on Saturday will see Salford Red Devils hosting Widnes Vikings. Salford are missing five players from the 21-man squad that was named to face Hull FC in Round 2 of Super League, with French fullback Morgan Escaré looking likely to make his debut for the Red Devils, while the Vikings have named a 20-man squad.

St Helens will then host Leeds Rhinos in the big game of the weekend, with Saints coach Kristian Woolf recalling Mark Percival and Agnatius Paasi to his squad, with Aaron Smith and Tom Nisbet making way. Leeds will be missing Richie Myler, with youngster Morgan Gannon gaining a call-up into the squad.

In Saturday’s second televised game, the Catalans Dragons have called up giant forward Corentin le Cam, who, at 6ft 9in, would be the tallest player in the game if he makes his debut. For Wakefield Trinity, Max Jowitt returns and Brad Walker drops out of the 21-man squad.

In Saturday’s late game Featherstone Rovers see three players – Craig Kopczak, James Lockwood, John Davies – drop out of their squad, with Tom Holmes, Leeds loanee Loui McConnell and Liam Whitton taking their places. Hull FC will be missing the injured Josh Reynolds and Ligi Sao, but they see the return of Josh Bowden and young prop forward Jack Brown.

On Sunday Warrington Wolves will go into their game against Swinton Lions without Gareth Widdop and Mike Cooper. They are replaced from last week’s 21-man squad by forwards Matt Davis and Sitaleki Akauola. Swinton haven’t yet named their squad.

In the second game on Sunday, Ben Flower is likely to make his Leigh Centurions debut, along with Australian hooker Nathan Peats, while, for Huddersfield Giants, Aidan Sezer is still suffering from a groin strain and has been left out of the 21-man squad, while Joe Greenwood has been suspended. They are replaced by former St Helens forward Jack Ashworth and Louis Senior.
