Betts hoping for double boost ahead of Challenge Cup tie

Widnes head coach Denis Betts is hoping to have Setaimata Sa and Chris Houston back for their Challenge Cup quarter-final tie with Warrington.

The pair haven’t featured for the last two weeks, with Sa recovering from a knee problem and Houston dealing with a bout of mumps.

However, both are in contention to return this week.

“We’re still waiting on Chris Houston after his illness,” Betts told the Liverpool Echo.

“He seems a lot better and is looking like his normal self again now the swelling’s gone out of his head. He trained over the weekend and was okay and we’ll lift the intensity to see how he reacts in the first part of the week.

“Hopefully he’ll be back in contention and the same with Setaimata Sa who we will monitor as the intensity of the training goes up.”
