Leeds Rhinos have handed first appearances of pre-season to several big stars this Sunday, as coach Brian McDermott names a strong squad for the visit of Bradford Bulls.
The game, which doubles up as Jamie Peacock’s testimonial – he will start in the front row, sees Kevin Sinfield, Rob Burrow, Joel Moon and Carl Ablett make their first appearances of pre-season, however, fullback Zak Hardaker has been rested for the game.
“We have stood Zak down this week,” McDermott explained.
“He was taken ill on camp in America and, whilst he has made some recovery since getting back, he is still not 100% and we think it is the smart thing not to push him at this stage of the season. Ash Golding has been in great form in pre-season and it will be good for him to get another game under his belt.
“It will be a special day for Jamie on Sunday and I am sure there will be a big turn out from Leeds and Bradford fans to salute a true legend of the modern game,” added McDermott.
