Boost for Batley Bulldogs as forward pens contract extension

BATLEY BULLDOGS stalwart Dane Manning has signed up for another season.

The news comes as a boost before the Championship play-off elimination tie at Sheffield Eagles on Sunday and after the announcement that hooker Alistair Leak and secondrow Lucas Walshaw are to retire.

Manning, 37, is in his second spell at Batley, playing for the club in 2011, then from 2017. He has topped 260 appearances in their colours.

A Leeds Rhinos Academy product who played once for the first team in 2009, he has also represented Featherstone Rovers and Halifax Panthers.

Batley finished tenth in the Championship in James Ford’s first season as coach.
