OLDHAM have the backing of the town’s football club as they continue a new era for Rugby League there under the ownership of former players Martin Hall and Terry Flanagan.
The Roughyeds have come through an uncertain spell following the departure of Bill Quinn as chairman in April.
Former Great Britain forward Flanagan is now in the role, while Hall has become a director, with Gary Kershaw returning to the board.
Hall and Kershaw attended Oldham Athletic’s 2026-27 fixture release event at Boundary Park, where the Roughyeds will be playing home matches.
And the club reported: “They were introduced to the room and greeted with a generous round of applause.
“Mark Smith (Athletic’s head of revenue, hospitality and events) spoke about the importance of having rugby in the town, a sentiment echoed by both (chief executive) Darren Royle and (director) Luke Rothwell.
“During Luke’s speech, he referred to his love of rugby through watching his son play and urged Oldham Athletic fans to get behind the rugby team.”
Oldham were 28-10 winners at Widnes on Friday to make it twelve league victories in succession.
