HULL FC fans will get the opportunity to say farewell to loyal servant Brad Fash next month.

The forward is leaving his hometown club after making 203 appearances over twelve seasons in the first team.

Fash has been unable to play since May due to complications in his recovery from knee surgery, but is planning to wear a Hull shirt one final time as part of a testimonial derby.

While Fash has already had an official fixture – January’s 28-16 pre-season defeat to Huddersfield Giants at Brantingham Park in Elloughton, home of rugby union side Hull Ionians – his upcoming event will be a tie-up with fellow testimonial man Kris Welham.

A veteran of 191 matches for Hull KR before spells with Bradford Bulls, Salford Red Devils and Featherstone Rovers, Welham was granted a testimonial year upon his retirement last autumn, after four seasons with Sheffield Eagles.

The match will take place at Welham’s former home, Sewell Group Craven Park, on Sunday, October 11, and involve past players from both Hull clubs locking horns, with announcements to be made in the coming weeks.

Fash, 30, said: “To share the occasion with Kris, and to bring Hull FC and Hull KR connections together at Craven Park, will make it a special day. 

“It is a rare chance for fans to see former favourites back on the pitch, enjoy the rivalry in a friendly setting and celebrate what Rugby League means to Hull.”

Welham, 39, added: “The Hull derby has always been one of the biggest occasions in Rugby League, and that is what makes this match so special.

“Although it is a friendly, there will always be plenty of pride when former Hull FC and Hull KR players take to the field. 

“It will be a great opportunity to look back on some brilliant memories, catch up with familiar faces and thank the supporters who have been part of our careers.”
