Bradford Bulls determined to score derby win

Bradford Bulls head coach James Lowes is targeting a derby win at local rivals Leeds Rhinos tonight – because he knows the players may not get another opportunity for at least a year.

Following relegation to the Championship, this could be the last Bradford-Leeds derby – a fixture which has contest Grand Finals and Challenge Cup Finals in the past – for some time. And Lowes admits although there is a disappointment that it won’t happen again next season, he is determined to make the most of what will be a feisty derby atmosphere.

“It will be nice to go back there but it will be disappointing really at the end, because we’re not going to get that opportunity to do it again for another year,” Lowes said.

“I’m going to really enjoy it though, going back to Headingley and getting booed by the South Stand! I know the lads are really looking forward to it and they need to make the most of it, because it’ll be a good year before we do it all over again.”
