Bradford to give trialist Martin a go against Leeds

Bradford Bulls will give trialist Charlie Martin an opportunity to impress during this Sunday’s friendly against arch rivals Leeds Rhinos.

Martin, a former Castleford Tigers player, has been included in James Lowes’ 24-man squad for the game, which also sees a number of the club’s Under-19s players get a chance to stake a claim for a place, too.

Liam Kirk, Ross Oakes and Ethan Ryan are the trio from the academy who get a chance, with plenty of experience elsewhere in the squad for Jamie Peacock’s testimonial match.

However, it is Martin who will perhaps have the most eyes fixed on him during the game at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

“I aim to give everybody as much game-time as possible,” Lowes said. “There will be plenty of changes in order to give the guys opportunities to showcase their talents.

“The game acts as a testimonial fixture to a terrific player and person in Jamie Peacock but we will be approaching it in a professional manner, as you would expect.

“This is the last chance for the boys to show me what they can do in a real match situation and I hope to have a healthy selection headache in the weeks and months ahead.”
