Brothers in arms

Brothers Tony and Brian Smith complimented each others teams, after the Wolves overcame Wakefield by 40 points to 20.

Tony’s Warrington were rarely scared but often tested by his elder bother’s Wildcats, who continue to improve.

Brian, 13 years the senior to baby brother Tony, paid homage to the Wolves. “I thought Tony’s boys pretty much took up where they left off last week (against Wigan),” was his view. “They were very strong – although I thought we did reasonably well in the second half.”

Tony, meanwhile, heaped praise on his brother’s Wakefield Wildcats as their resurgence picks up pace.

“Wakefield have come a long way since we last played them,” he said. “I thought they were good today; they were breathing right down our necks. It was a potential banana-skin day.”
