WAKEFIELD TRINITY prop Caleb Hamlin-Uele has confirmed he’ll be fit to play in Friday’s play-off eliminator against Leigh Leopards.
Daryl Powell’s side ensured the home tie by winning 19-8 at Leigh on Friday to secure fourth place in the Super League table.
Hamlin-Uele sat out that game, but speaking at a play-off launch event on Monday, the Kiwi forward said: “I just had a little issue with my knee, but it’s all good.”
Having just been selected in the Super League Dream Team, Hamlin-Uele’s return will be a significant boost to a side which impressed in his absence to get one over on Leigh.
“That shows how good our team is,” he added. “It’s testament to how hard we push each other in training.
“If someone goes down, it’s next-man-up mentality. We’ve got a great group of blokes in the changing rooms.”
However, looking ahead to Friday’s tie, he said: “There will be so much more on the line.
“Leigh are a great team, but so are we. It’s going to be a great occasion in front of our fans, and Leigh have great travelling fans.
“We just have to play our game. If we’re playing well and do what we set out to do, I’m sure we’ll be alright.”
Hamlin-Uele, who has mostly been utilised from the interchange bench this season, paid credit to his fellow middle men for his Dream Team inclusion.
“I have always set goals to be the best, but I never thought I’d be in a Dream Team,” he said. “It’s crazy – I’m so grateful to be here.
“My team make it so easy for me to do my job. When me and Caius (Faatili) come on, the platform is already laid by the starting middles. Without them, there wouldn’t be any of me.”
