Canberra coach wants Hodgson to stay “forever”

He has certainly made a big impression on Canberra Raiders since joining the club – summed up best by Ricky Stuart’s recent comments about hooker Josh Hodgson.

The former Hull FC and Hull KR hooker has been so impressive this year that he is considered one of the frontrunners for the prestigious Dally M Medal award in the NRL.

And after claiming the first of what is expected to be several awards this year, the Warren Ryan Medal, Stuart says he ranks him alongside legendary hooker Cameron Smith – and that he now wants him to stay for a long, long time.

“I have all the admiration and respect for Cameron Smith as a bloke and as a player and Josh Hodgson is sitting right beside him,” Stuart said.

Hodgson has now applied for permanent Australian residency following his transformation into one of the competition’s best hookers.

“I want him to be here forever,” Stuart said. “He is not only a great player but he is a great person.”
