Carney “back in the groove” following injury

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell believes his star winger Justin Carney is now “back in the groove”, after returning to action last weekend.

Carney made a try-scoring return during Castleford’s 25-24 win against St Helens, playing the full game in the process as he returned from an elbow problem.

And Powell believes that Carney will only get better following his return to the side, and is excited to see him progress in the coming weeks.

“There’s not many players who would have scored the try he scored,” Powell said.

“He’s back in the groove now, he’s played a full 80 minutes so hopefully now he’s been back in there. He knows what it feels like to be back in the team and he’ll get better now he’s had that game under his belt.

“He tested the elbow early on when he fended (Matty) Dawson off so it looks like he’s okay. He has trained since so should be fine.”
