Castleford crown Andy Lynch as player of the year

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that long-standing prop Andy Lynch has won the club’s player of the year award for 2015.

Lynch, who is in his second spell at the club after previous stints with Bradford and Hull FC, saw off strong competition from prop Grant Millington and Albert Goldthorpe Medal winner Luke Gale, who came second and third respectively.

“It’s come as a surprise really to win the Players Player of the year, there have been a few stand out players this year, but it’s nice to get votes from your fellow players,” said Lynch.

“These awards are a great honour but it’s not just about me, it’s about the boys around me. As players we are always looking to get better and improve. It’s been a great night here tonight and we just aim now to get bigger and better, we’ve a job to do on Thursday night so it’s an early night and back to training for the boys”

New signing Mike McMeeken won the young player of the year award during his first season at Cas, whilst there was an award for Gale – who picked up the fans player of the year.
