CASTLEFORD TIGERS fullback Fletcher Rooney is set for a season-long loan move to London Broncos, Total Rugby League understands.
The 20-year-old spent almost the entire 2026 season out with a hamstring injury that required surgery, however he is now set to earn valuable experience with the Broncos in 2027.
It remains to be seen whether the capital club will be in the top flight next season, but with a decision looming as the NRL and Super League look set to strike up a deal, it won’t be long before the green or red light should be given.
With Morea Morea excelling at fullback for the Broncos in 2026, however, Rooney would still have to fight for his place under Jason Demetriou.
All in all, Rooney has made 13 appearances for the Tigers since debuting back in 2023, scoring four tries.
With Blake Taaffe, who missed the entire 2026 campaign with an ACL injury, expected to take the number one shirt for 2027 and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e waiting in the wings, Rooney’s chances at the OneBore Stadium look slim next season.
