CASTLEFORD TIGERS will be without rising starlet Jenson Windley for a number of weeks after the teenager got knocked out in the 38-4 defeat to Catalans Dragons last weekend.
Windley, whose father Phil made almost 100 appearances for Hull FC during the 1980s and 1990s, has been plying his trade at fullback for the Tigers in recent weeks in the absence of Fletcher Rooney and Tex Hoy who are both sidelined with injury.
However, during Castleford’s loss in the south of France on Saturday night, Windley was taken from the field for a Head Injury Assessment (HIA) which he subsequently failed.
Now interim boss and director of rugby Chris Chester has revealed that the teenager was knocked out, suffering a second concussion in a short space of time after also taking a head knock whilst on loan at Sheffield Eagles.
“Jenson got knocked out and isn’t available (for the Leigh game). It will be a couple of weeks for him now,” Chester said.
“That’s the second head knock he has had in a short space of time – I think it’s six weeks.
“He got another head knock whilst out on loan at Sheffield and he was out cold against Catalans last week.”
The 19-year-old has registered eight appearances for the Tigers since debuting during the 2024 Super League season and has crossed for two tries during that time.
Meanwhile, Chester confirmed that youngster Alfie Lindsey will continue his role on the wing after the Yorkshire Origin representative registered a try on debut against Catalans.
