Castleford Tigers release Charlie Martin

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that youngster Charlie Martin has been released by the club.

The 22-year-old has failed to break into Daryl Powell’s plans this year, despite featuring six times for the Tigers in 2013. He made his debut on Easter Monday last year, and the second rower looked set for a bright future at the club.

However, he has not made any of Daryl Powell’s 19-man matchday squads this year, and both parties have now parted company. Martin is now expected to join an unnamed Championship side.

Daryl Powell said of the decision: “Charlie’s first team opportunities with us have been limited given the strong competition for places that we have.

“He has had an opportunity to play regular Championship rugby league and we wanted to give him the chance to do that.

“We wish him all the best for the future.”
