Catalans reveal 2016 squad numbers

Laurent Frayssinous has revealed his squad numbers for new Catalans Dragons, with a number of their new imports gaining starting jerseys.

Richie Myler gets the number 7 vacated by Scott Dureau, whilst Pat Richards’ return to Super League will be marked by him wearing number five.

Jodie Broughton gets 2, NRL imports Justin Horo, Glenn Stewart and Dave Taylor get 12, 11 and 14 respectively, with hooker Paul Aiton wearing 9.

Lucas Albert, Fouad Yaha, Ugo Perez and Thibaut Margalet, who all signed their first professional contract last year, have all been named in the squad.

Frayssinous  said: “I used to give the numbers in the past season according to the players’ wishes and habits. With the large number of new faces in the squad, I decided to change this system.”

“Squad numbers this season give an idea of our starting 17, even if the players named on the team sheet will be of course chosen by their performances and fitness.

“We have 37 players at training, and I’m sure some of them not included in this squad will play this season.

“We’ll not make the same errors we made in past, and we have this season not only quality but also quantity in our squad.

“I’m really satisfied of the group since the start of the preseason. They are working really hard and improving week by week. We are now looking forward the start of the season.”
