Centurions backing Burnham for Labour leader

Leigh Centurions are backing the town’s Member of Parliament Andy Burnham in his campaign to be the next Leader of the Labour Party.

Centurions owner and Head of Rugby Derek Beaumont explained his club’s intervention in the campaign.

“Irrespective of your political beliefs, as a Leigh person I feel that it would be amazing to have our MP as a party leader,” said Beaumont.

“Andy is a great ambassador for our town and in particular our rugby club and has helped us with many issues we have faced.

“Leigh can only benefit from this once in a lifetime opportunity.

“Let’s get behind him and show him the support of the town that he deserves.

“Please support yourselves and share amongst your friends. With your support we can make this happen.”

The Centurions face Hull Kingston Rovers this afternoon at the Leigh Sports Village (3.00pm) in the opening game of the Qualifiers (Middle 8s) in the new Super 8s competition.
