Challenge Cup Final date set to be moved in 2020

Rugby League officials are in talks to move forward the Challenge Cup Final by two months, according to the Daily Mail, after the 2018 Final attracted a disappointing crowd of just 50,672.

The Final, which was won historically by the Catalans Dragons this year in front of the lowest Wembley crowd since 1937, could be set to be changed as early as 2020 with TotalRL.com understanding that the Final in 2019 is to be held on Saturday, August 24th.

The reasons behind the move are thought to be the travel chaos on the Bank Holiday weekend and the lack of distance between the Challenge Cup Final and the Super League Grand Final in October.
