London Broncos have signed Salford outside back Ed Chamberlain (pictured) on a month’s loan.
Coach Danny Ward’s threequarter options have been stretched by an injury to Will Lovell, and he welcomed the arrival of the former Ireland international.
Ward said: “I’d highlighted before the start of the season that I’d like another outside back.
“When Will went down injured we looked a little short, and this is a good opportunity for Ed to come in and for us to have a good look at him.
“I’m sure he’ll do a good job.
“There are another few Widnes lads down here and he’s jumped in to stay with them, and the boys have all made him feel welcome.”
Chamberlain himself added: “I am really looking forward to getting some game time down here in London.
“The switch to the capital has been made a lot easier, for me, already knowing a couple of the lads that are playing here.”
Ward was set to make a late check on halfback James Meadows on Sunday after he left the home defeat to Featherstone in an ankle boot.
Ward hopes that the one-sided defeat to Rovers acts as a wake-up call for his players.
He said: “It was a good old fashioned pasting – we weren’t at the races and it was disappointing to be out-enthused and dominated for 80 minutes.
“There weren’t many positives for us to take out of the game, but it might be a bit of a reality check for us.
“Hopefully we can produce a response to it.”
