Chester reveals deal offered to Lunt for 2016

Hull KR coach Chris Chester has revealed that the club have offered a contract to hooker Shaun Lunt for next season in an attempt to make his loan spell at the club a permanent one.

Lunt has impressed during his temporary spell at the Robins since joining from Huddersfield – but rumours are linking him with interest from former club Leeds for 2016.

However, Chester told the Hull Daily Mail that they’re keen to keep hold of the hooker next season – and they have already tabled a bid with his agent.

“I’m not concerned at all (by the rumours). Shaun is loving his time here, we speak regularly and I speak to his agent too,” said Chester.

“What happens at Leeds, who knows. They’ve got some room on the cap and on the quota so I’m sure they will be looking overseas and here to bring in a quality replacement for Paul Aiton.

“We want to keep hold of Shaun Lunt, a contract has gone to his agent and I don’t think we’re too far away.”
