Chris Chester was ‘unimpressed’ by his Hull Kingston Rovers side despite beating Halifax 34-12.
The Robins, who eventually ran out comfortable winners, looked uncomfortable as Fax battled back to both 10-6 and 22-12 before two late tries added gloss to the score line, with Josh Mantellato scoring a hat-trick.
However, the performance did little to appease Chester, who admitted he might have to change his rotation plans with the Challenge Cup final looming.
“Halifax are a good side and made us look silly at times,” Chester said. “Ten minutes into the second half, I was worried about the score line, but credit to my boys for turning it around.”

When asked about wrapping players in cotton wool ahead of the showpiece against Leeds Rhinos at Wembley, the Hull KR head coach replied: “That was the plan but after some poor individual performances I think I might have to change that. Some individuals’ performances weren’t acceptable. We’ve got a big carrot in two weeks and there are lots of spots up for grabs. They’ve got an opportunity to put a few wrongs right next week.”
