Chris Annakin facing three months on the sidelines

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats forward Chris Annakin is out of action for three months following the aftermath of the much-debated tackle from Wigan captain Sean O’Loughlin last weekend.

O’Loughlin was red-carded after hitting Annakin with a high tackle – subsequently receiving a one-game ban from the RFL’s disciplinary panel on Tuesday night.

But it has since emerged that Annakin suffered a knee injury as he fell to the floor after collapsing following the tackle – and will now miss three months of action.

It means he is out of Wakefield’s Challenge Cup semi-final with Warrington – and would also likely miss the Wembley final if the Wildcats won the game with the Wolves.

TotalRL was made aware of the severity of the injury on Wednesday – and our colleagues at the Yorkshire Evening Post have covered the story in more detail.
