Clark best-performing hooker – Price

Warrington coach Steve Price insists Daryl Clark is the best-performing hooker in Super League at the moment.

The England international, who heads the Albert Goldthorpe Medal table, was at his brilliant best once again on Sunday, helping guide Warrington to a 26-24 win over Wigan in the Challenge Cup to set up a quarter-final clash with Hull KR.

And when Price was asked if there was a better hooker in the competition at the moment, he said: “I don’t think so.

“He’s been really consistent over a number of weeks. He’s been knocking out really consistent displays and his running display today was fantastic.

“He got knocked around a little bit early on, but played tough today. He got over the advantage line and caused havoc.”

Price also praised his side for being able to find another level and emerge with victory from an entertaining game on Sunday afternoon.

“It had a bit of everything, didn’t it? It was a tough game but we expected it,” he said.

“I thought that’s the best they’ve played all season. They showed a lot of heart out there and were very courageous.

“We could have executed a bit better at times – I get that – but when the game was in the balance, I was proud when we found another level.”
