Cronk may play in Origin III

Injured Queensland halfback Cooper Cronk is about to resume training in a bid to play for Melbourne in next Monday’s game against Canterbury, so as to try and regain his place for the deciding Origin clash.

Cronk suffered a low grade tear in his knee which was set to sideline him for 4-6 weeks and threatened to rule him out of the last State of Origin matches, however Cronk’s return to full health is currently ahead of schedule.

Of the 15 State of Origin matches Cronk has played, Queensland has won 11, however his replacement Daly Cherry-Evans, has lost both of his games starting at halfback.

Melbourne Storm chief Frank Ponissi revealed Cronk’s progress, saying “We’re not yet sure how much of the sessions he can do and how intense, but he will certainly be participating in the training.”
