Cunningham won’t risk Roby

Keiron Cunningham has revealed James Roby could make his St Helens return on Friday, but only if he is 100% fit.

The influential hooker has missed the last two defeats to Salford and Sydney Roosters after damaging his rib cartilage in the opening round victory against Huddersfield.

Roby is nearing full fitness, however speaking to the St Helens Star, Cunningham has admitted that he is cautious about bringing his star man back too soon.

“Robes has a problem with his rib cartilage – it is quite a severe issue,” he said.

“If he is not 100 per cent I won’t risk him because rib cartilage is not a comfortable thing and carry around in everyday life, never mind play rugby.”
