Danny Orr makes shock return to rugby league with Keighley Cougars

DANNY ORR has made a shock return to rugby league to join Keighley Cougars.

Though Orr’s position has yet to be clarified, the Cougars have revealed that he will work alongside the club’s new head coach Dan Burton and backroom staff as part of a new coaching group for the 2026 Championship season.

It follows the decision of former head coach Alan Kilshaw to leave Keighley and instead link up with Oldham.

Burton spent time as academy and reserves coach at Leeds Rhinos.

Upon taking the reins at Cougar Park, Burton said: “I’m excited to accept the interim head coach position at Keighley.

“Working alongside Craig McDowell and Adam Mitchell, we have a strong coaching group in place, and continuity is key as we move forward together.

“What excites me most is the hard work ethic and attitude the players have shown – that’s the foundation everything else is built on.

“We have a great group of individuals here, both on and off the field, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop and push this team forward during this period.”
