Darius Carter vows to ‘make impact’ at Halifax Panthers

HALIFAX PANTHERS recruit Darius Carter says he wants to make the Shay faithful sit up and take notice of him.

The 21-year-old outside back has moved from neighbours Huddersfield, having played once for the Giants in 2024 and four times on loan to Sheffield last season.

Carter has also represented Jamaica – in their 22-16 defeat by Wales at Neath  last year – and now wants regular rugby.

“I think I can bring a bit of energy,” said the former backrower, who switched to centre as he was coming through Huddersfield’s Academy and has also played on the wing.

“When I get the ball or make a tackle, I want to make sure supporters know it’s me by making an impact.

“I like centre, but I’m happy to play anywhere and my plan is to establish myself.”

Carter kept close tabs on Halifax as they finished fifth in the Championship under Kyle Eastmond’s coaching.

“They looked strong and were among the contenders before just falling short in the play-offs,” he said. “The aim is to push on and I want to play my part.

“The training has been tough, but I’m enjoying being in a new environment and getting to know everyone at the club.”
