Dewsbury Rams make five more signings for 2015

Dewsbury Rams have announced the arrival of five new players ahead of the 2015 season – including former Bradford Bulls winger Sam Wood.

Barrow Raiders winger Dalton Grant, Halifax’s Ryan Fieldhouse, Swinton’s Josh Barlow, Wood and Batley’s Byron Smith will all be turning out for Glenn Morrison’s side next year – in what is shaping up to be a very impressive squad.

“Dalton is one of the best wingers in the competition and is Super League standard. I am very excited about him coming on board,” Morrison said when asked about Grant.

Halifax full-back Fieldhouse, who has signed on a 1-year-deal, also joins the club next year after a four year spell with Fax. The 26-year-old, who can also fill in at centre, was part of the squad which won the Northern Rail Cup in 2012 and he was voted as the ‘Star Man’ by fans in 2013.

The former Leigh East amateur has enjoyed a fine 2014 campaign, crossing for 16 tries in 24 appearances, including a score against Widnes in the Challenge Cup, helping him rack up a total of 53 tries in 84 appearances across four seasons with the West Yorkshire side.

“To me Ryan is the best full back in the competition. He is also a top try scorer in a top 4 team, which shows great quality. He is also safe in defence.” Morrison commented.

Former Bulls loanee Sam Wood has also made a permanent switch to the club and has signed a 2-year-deal. The 20-year-old had enjoyed a solid start to his Dewsbury career, scoring four times in his first nine appearances while showing his versatility by stepping in at centre or wing when needed.

“Sam is a 20-year-old with Super League experience and is a talent of the future. We have signed him on a 2-year-deal and there is lots of potential,” said Morrison.
