Kieran Dixon has admitted that he found it difficult to recover from Hull KR’s Challenge Cup nightmare this year.
Rovers were totally dismantled by Leeds in Wembley’s showpiece event in August, with Dixon coming in for particular criticism after a poor display in the 50-0 demolition.
That setback didn’t seem to hamper Dixon’s performances during the closing stages of the season as he impressed in the Qualifiers, however he admitted that it took him a while to move on from that hellacious day in the capital.
“Wembley wasn’t the best day at the office,” Dixon told the Hull Daily Mail.
“It was pretty tough to get around all of the criticism that I got after the game and something that I kind of knew I had to keep my head up about.
“It’s my job to go out the next week and try to put in an improved performance, prove everybody wrong and try to pick myself back up. I think I managed to do that and finish the season really strongly.
“The Cup final was the biggest step of my career so far and the performance wasn’t up to standard. That will obviously live with me.
“I don’t know how long it will be, but hopefully we can get there again and wipe those thoughts away.”
