Eagles still in the market for players

Sheffield Eagles head coach Mark Aston has confirmed the club is close to completing a couple of deals for new players.

Ten recruits have already arrived at the now full-time Championship club, with Ben Blackmore the most recent addition.

It had been speculated that he was the last arrival at Sheffield after the club didn’t announce a new addition on Monday morning, a time slot they have used to reveal their new signings throughout the off-season.

However, Aston has quashed those rumours and has revealed he is keen on bringing in a new half-back and centre.

“We have our eyes firmly on where we need to add,” Aston told the Sheffield Star.

“There are deals almost in place, all we have to do now is cement them and we are looking to do that within the next month.”
