Eastmond reportedly rejects Rugby League return

Kyle Eastmond’s new contract in rugby union with Bath has reportedly been signed after the former St Helens star rejected the chance to return to his native sport of Rugby League.

Eastmond had been continously linked with a return to the 13-man code as talk over a new deal with Bath appeared to drag on – his previous deal expired at the end of the current rugby union season.

And with Warrington heavily linked with a move for Eastmond, the Daily Mail are reporting that he actually knocked the Wolves back before penning the extension with Bath.

“When I set out to come to rugby union, I came for the long term,” Eastmond told the Daily Mail.

“I’ve been here for four years now. If a couple of things don’ t go my way, I’ve still got goals that I want to achieve.

‘I’m happy at Bath and there’s still a long way for us to go to achieve those things. With the talent we’ve got, there’s no reason we can’t do something special together.”
