Niall Evalds looks set to sign a new contract at Salford.
The fullback has opened talks with the Red Devils that are believed to be advancing quickly.
Evalds, who came joint second in Super League’s try-scoring list in 2019, is off-contract at the end of the season and he has already been linked with a move away from the AJ Bell Stadium, with Castleford mentioned as a potential interested party.
But Evalds now looks set to extend his stay with Salford and put pen to paper on a new deal in the coming weeks.
Salford have moved quickly to tie down the 26-year-old, who scored 27 tries in all competitions last season.
Evalds, who represented England Knights last year, is the Red Devils’ all-time leading try-scorer during the Super League era.
News of his imminent extension will come as a huge boost to Red Devils’ supporters, but he isn’t set to be the only one to extend their deal with the club.
Reports emerged last week that head coach Ian Watson is close to signing a new contract with the club.
Now, League Express can also reveal the club is in advanced talks with head conditioner Greg Brown, the man largely credited for keeping Salford’s squad injury-free on their shock run to last year’s Grand Final.
With Salford now closing in on the retention of three of their prize assets, Red Devils fans will look forward to an exciting 2020.
