Ex-Warrington Wolves forward Josh McGuire charged with alleged strangulation and common assault

FORMER Warrington Wolves and NRL forward Josh McGuire has been charged with strangulation and common assault.

McGuire, who made seven appearances for Warrington during the 2023 Super League season, was arrested and charged on Tuesday after investigations by Queensland Police.

He was charged with one count each of choking or strangulation and common assault and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 17.

The 35-year-old made over 250 NRL appearances for the likes of Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys and St George Illawarra Dragons as well as 14 appearances for Queensland.

McGuire was not short of controversy during his ill-fated spell at Warrington, with the forward being suspended for 12 matches and fined £1,000 after being found guilty of a Grade F charge of unacceptable language in a Super League fixture against Leigh Leopards in May 2023.
