Exclusive: Bradford players stop training amid warning of liquidation

Crisis-stricken Championship side could face liquidation if no buyer is found for the club before the end of this week, TotalRL understands – and in the latest twist concerning the former Super League champions, TotalRL has been made aware by sources close to the Bulls that the players were only informed of the news this morning (Wednesday) – and they have now walked away from training as a result.

The Bradford squad, who are still preparing for the start of the 2017 Championship season as usual, were made aware that the situation at the club has taken such a turn for the worse, that the very realistic possibility of liquidation is now looming on the horizon.

Sources told TotalRL that while liquidation is by no means a guarantee, it could be the possibility facing the Bulls if no bidder is found in the desperate attempts to save the club.

On Wednesday, Bradford Park Avenue chief executive Gareth Roberts distanced himself with a move for the club, despite it being understood he was in the running to take over at Odsal.

The Rugby Football League were approached for comment by TotalRL on Wednesday afternoon in regards to the liquidation news – but as yet, received no response from the game’s governing body.
