Fans given chance to contribute to Super League Dream Team selection

SUPPORTERS have the opportunity to contribute to the selection of the Super League Dream Team under a new process.

Three different groups will lend their view to who should make the all-star team of top performers over the course of the season.

The Man of Steel panel, which has determined the line-up in recent seasons and is now made up of five former greats, will account for 50 percent of the overall weighting.

A further 30 percent will come from the selections of a cohort of journalists, with the final 20 percent determined by supporters through the Super League website, where they can choose from nominated players in each position.

The online fan vote is already open, and will close on Sunday, September 6.

Seven days later, after the end of the regular season on Sunday, September 13, the Dream Team will be announced.

Former Man of Steel winners Ellery Hanley, Joe Lydon, Paul Sculthorpe, James Roby and Sam Tomkins make up the expert panel.

Leeds Rhinos players led the way in consideration for the individual prize, with Lachlan Miller coming top of the panel’s rankings after the opening nine rounds, and teammates Jake Connor and Ash Handley sharing the lead across the middle third of the season.

The Man of Steel winner will be announced later, at the Rugby League Awards in Manchester on Tuesday, September 29.
