Farah dropped to reserve grade by Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers have confirmed that star hooker Robbie Farah will not play first-team rugby for the club this weekend after he was dropped to the reserve grade by coach Jason Taylor.

Farah and Taylor have had a tempestuous relationship in the past, and Taylor informed the NSW hooker on Wednesday that he will not be in the NRL side to play St George-Illawarra Dragons this Sunday.

Instead, Farah will turn out for the Tigers’ Intrust Super Premiership team against Newtown Jets 24 hours earlier – and in a statement, the Tigers coach confirmed Farah will get a shot to reclaim his place in the team in the future.

“This was not an easy decision to make, but I have selected the 17 players that I believe will give the Club the best chance of victory against the Dragons,” Taylor said.

“Robbie is understandably disappointed, but I have spoken at length with him that he will be given every opportunity to regain his position in the NRL team.”

The news will only further intensity rumours linking Farah with a move to Super League next year. He has one year remaining on his contract at the Tigers, but Super League clubs have expressed an interest in the past about bringing the star hooker to the competition.
