Featherstone Rovers sign duo with ‘point to prove’

FEATHERSTONE ROVERS have added two new faces to their squad for 2026 with former Leeds Rhinos fullback or centre Beth Macmillan and Hull KR captain Aaliyah Brewster joining ahead of the club’s return to Super League.

Macmillian signed for Leeds Rhinos ahead of the 2024 season, going on to make six appearances that season and scoring one try in a 68-0 win over Barrow, but has not played since the July of that year.

Brewster, who came through Hull KR’s Foundation pathways, has been a mainstay of the Robins’ first team side since 2021 and led them to a sixth place finish last season.

The duo join fellow new recruits Michaela Magonya, from Bradford Bulls, and utility back Kasalaini Gaunavinaka, who has made the move from Castleford, at Featherstone, for whom it’s largely business as normal as the side is run by Rovers’ foundation rather then the club itself, which has applied for administration.

While the new signings may not have much Super League experience, they do possess a trait head coach Marie Colley is keen to see.

“Beth and Aaliyah are already adding value to what we’ve had in anyway,” said Colley.

“It’s looking really promising because they have come in firing and with a bit of a point to prove. It’s great to see how quickly they’ve settled into the squad.

“Of course the top four in Super League is very competitive and with the World Cup coming up top players are going to want to be in those competitive games week in week out to get into that England squad. So that was going to be a challenge for us when it came to recruitment.

“But what we have done is we’ve looked into players from outside those top clubs that can add value to us and brought in players that we know are hungry to be better.

“For me, you don’t always necessarily need superstars, you just need a hardworking group of players that want to be there for each other, and that is what we’ve got.”
