FEATHERSTONE ROVERS have been given a nod of support from local Member of Parliament, Jon Trickett, following the club’s exit from the Championship.
Trickett, who has ben the MP for Normanton and Hemsworth since 1996, has revealed that he is ‘supporting’ the club through the difficult time after being denied entry by the RFL for the 2026 Championship season.
The 75-year-old wrote on social media: “I am very disappointed by the news that Featherstone Rovers have been thrown out of the Championship. I am supporting the club and hope there is a solution to the current problems. I will post more updates as we get them.”
A group led by long-serving former Featherstone chairman Mark Campbell had been working to get a new operation set up after being the only party to express interest in taking over Rovers after the club entered administration last month due to financial issues.
But the RFL said this bid, which also involved Colm Corran and Chris Hamilton, previously a director and chief executive respectively of the club, did not meet the required governance criteria.
