Foran ruled out for the season

Paramatta captain Kieran Foran has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The Eels’ miserable month took a turn for the worst when the halfback was taken from the field during their 20-18 victory over struggling Newcastle Knights on Monday, and the club has confirmed he requires season-ending surgery.

If that wasn’t bad enough for Brad Arthur’s side, he is also without Foran’s replacement Brad Takairangi, who is currently nursing a hamstring strain that is likely to keep him out for four weeks.

Foran’s injury is a further blow to Parramatta’s already unlikely hopes of making the finals hopes after their 12 point deduction for a breach of salary cap regulations.

The 25-year-old only recently returned from rehab after the breakdown of his long-term relationship, and his debut season for the Eels has now been brought to a premature end.

It is the latest drama to hit the club this year, with the Eels having to sell players to get under the cap, while Corey Norman has been charged for drug possession and faces court later this year.
